"During my bachelor's studies at the University of Passau, I spent three months at the beginning of 2019 at the European Office of Local Authorities of Baden-Württemberg . I decided to do an internship at the European Office because, as a former youth councillor, I have always been interested in the interface between European and Baden-Württemberg local politics. I particularly enjoyed working on Brüssel Aktuell, the newsletter of the European Office. In all activities, I had the feeling that the results of my work were valued and further used for the provision of information or representation of interests. In addition, the professional skills I acquired and the contacts I made helped me decide on a suitable master's program."

"The internship at the European Office of the Local Authorities of Baden-Württemberg, which I completed as part of my bachelor's degree in "Public Management" at the University of applied Science in Kehl, gave me the opportunity to experience European politics and representation of interests in Brussels directly. The wealth of topics covered by the European Office allowed me to get involved in various policy areas, from mobility, to digitalization, to the role of municipalities in the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement. The internship was very diversified for me, especially through the organization and support of visitor groups from Baden-Württemberg as well as visits to various committee meetings and conferences, where I was able to get to know the international and intercultural Brussels environment."

Making coffee was yesterday: With us, you are a member of the community from the very beginning and are included in all tasks. You will be actively supported and guided by our head of office Jan Molzberger, his deputy Marleen Lorenz andd our office manager Nadine Merz. You will conduct independent research and contribute to our newsletter „Brüssel Aktuell“, which is published every two weeks. You will visit community-relevant events and report on them to the other members of the office community.
You will meet other interns who will introduce you to the internship-network in Brussels. You will learn how we represent the interests of local authorities in Brussels and present them with network partners.
Together with the European Office of the Bavarian Local Authorities, we form a powerful office community in the heart of the European Quarter in the immediate vicinity of the EU Commission, the European Parliament and the Council.
You will experience an international flair in a European capital that is worth living in. You learn to successfully act interculturally. And of course, you will get to know the Belgian frites and the sauces that go with them.

Duration of the internship
The interns of the European Office are fully integrated into the work processes of the office community. Therefore, we offer an internship period of three months.
Language skills
We expect active and practiced speaking skills in English. In addition, knowledge of French is an advantage.
Internship Compensation
The European Office of Local Authorities of Baden-Württemberg cannot pay internship allowances. However, the EU and the German Academic Exchange Service offer financial support to promote cross-border mobility. It is recommended that you contact the International Office of your university or college in this regard.
